District Leh is situated roughly between 32 to 36 degree north Latitude and 75 to 80 degree East longitude and altitude ranging from 2300 mtrs to 5000 mtrs above sea level. District Leh with and area of 45100 Sqs Kms makes it one of the largest district in the country.The district is bounded by Pakistan occupied Kashmir in the west and China in the North and eastern part and Lahul Spiti of Himachal Pardesh in the south east. It is at a distance of 434 Kms from State capital ( Summer) Srinagar and 474 Kms from Manali (HP).

Topographically, the whole of the district is mountainous with three parallel ranges of the Himalayas, the Zanskar, the Ladakh and the Karakoram. Between these ranges, the Shayok, Indus and Zanskar rivers flow and most of the population lives in valleys of these rivers.

Itinerary

  • Day 1

    ARRIVAL MANALI / VISIT LOCAL MARKET

    On arrival at Manali, transfer to hotel. Day free, in the evening one walk around the local market. Overnight stay at the hotel

  • Day 2

    MANALI FULL DAY CITY TOUR

    After breakfast go for full day Manali sightseeing this includes “Vashisht Baths”, “Arjun Gufa”, “Tibetan Temple” and Manu Temple. Evening is free for shopping. You can shop at the Mall Road for handicrafts and leather items. Overnight stay at the hotel

  • Day 3

    MANALI / KEYLONG

    Early in the morning start driving to Keylong via Rohtang pass (3978 mtr.), the distance is about 115 kms & will be covered in about 5-6 hrs. Overnight stay at Hotel.

  • Day 4

    KEYLONG / JISPA / SARCHU

    After breakfast drive to Sarchu over Baralacha-la Pass (4892 Mts.). The distance of about 105km will be covered in about 5-6 hrs. The landscape en-route is magnificent. Overnight stay at camp.

  • Day 5

    SARCHU / TSOMORIRI (118 KMS)

    After breakfast drive to Pang. Enroute we cross the wild animals too. Pang is the tiny migrated market on the Leh-Manali road. The person who run the shops here are Ladakhi. They have shifted here for few months from mid June to Sep. end. We drive past the Pang and then further up. After the uphill drive, we find the plain area of around 60 kms till base of Tanglangla (5400m). Later Reach Tsomoriri and check in at your fixed camp. Visit the lake side the small collection of huts. Tsomoriri is situated at an altitude of 4573m from south east from Leh. It is like a pearl shape and contains large mineral deposits. The circumference of the lake is around 36 km. Here you must register and show your permit. Overnight stay at the camp.

  • Day 6

    TSOMORIRI - TSOKAR

    In the morning visit Korzok village and visit around the lake. Later drive to Mahe village. The village is famous for the scene of shooting fountain and white clouds hanging upon. Drive to Puga valley, which is famous for Butan gas. Later we drive to Tsokar. Overnight stay at the camp.

  • Day 7

    TSOKAR - TANGLANG - LEH

    Post breakfast visit Tsokar, which is at an altitude of 4090 mts. You can also visit Thugke Gompa. Later we drive towards Leh via Tanglang pass, which is at a height of 5350 mts and is the second highest motorable pass in the world. Upon arrival at Leh check-in to Hotel. Overnight stay at the hotel.

  • Day 8

    DAY TOUR OF HEMIS / THIKSHEY & SHEY MONASTERY / 3 IDIOTS SCHOOL CAMPUS & SINDHU DARSHAN

    After a leisurely breakfast, we drive to visit Hemis Monastery situated 45km west of Leh; Hemis is the largest and the wealthiest monastery in Ladakh. From Hemis, you are driven back taking the same route to visit Thiksey Monastery, located on a hill-lock with formidable views of the Indus valley. Thiksey is especially noteworthy for its gigantic seated statue of the Maitreya and is also known for its (Dukhang) assembly hall which houses hundreds of rectangular prayer books, stacked between wooden covers and bound in silk. After that we continue to drive through series of chortens to visit Shey Palace the former summer palace of the King of Ladakh. 3 Idiots School Campus Sindhu Darshan visit. Overnight stay at the hotel.

  • Day 9

    DRIVE TO SHAM VALLEY & ALCHI (70 KMS)

    After breakfast, carry packed lunch for the day. Sightseeing of 1000 year old Alchi monastery the only Gompa in Ladakh region on flat ground. Thereafter proceed to the Likir Monastrey to visit the splendid three storeys Dharma Wheel Gompa. Here you'll be awestruck with the sight of the massive Buddha statues., Indus & Zanskar river Sangam, drive along the Indus river visiting, Pathar Sahib Gurdwara and Magnetic Hill (where the cars defy gravity), Basgo Palace Hiking only and further on to Leh Hall of Fame (which has a museum of the Kargil War memorabilia). Overnight stay at the hotel.

  • Day 10

    TOUR OF KHARDUNGLA PASS (18380 FT.) / NUBRA & HUNDAR SAND DUNES

    Drive 120 Kms 4/5hrs After Breakfast drive to Nubra Valley via Khardungla (Highest Motorable road in the World, 18,380 ft) Arrive at Hundur by Afternoon. Rest of the day, Post lunch free to explore Deskit, Hunder Villages and camel Safari in Sand Dunes between Deskit and Hunder Village. Overnight stay at the camp.

  • Day 11

    VISIT 515 YEARS OLD DISKIT MONASTERY / VISIT LEH MARKET

    After Breakfast visit Deskit Monastery and drive back to Leh by same Route, crossing Khardungla Pass. Reach Leh by afternoon. Evening at Leisure to explore Leh market. Overnight stay at the hotel.

  • Day 12

    VISIT PANGONG LAKE (155 KMS - ONE WAY)

    After early Breakfast leave for Pangong Lake (14,500 ft), through Changla Pass 17,350 ft., it is the third highest motorable road in the world. Arrive Pangong Lake it is the highest salt water Lake in the World, shared by two countries India & China. Enjoy the beauty of the lake on the Banks of Pangong Lake while appreciating the changing Colors and fascinating high altitude of the Lake. Overnight stay at the camp.

  • Day 13

    LEH AT LEISURE

    After breakfast, drive back from Pangong to Leh. Day at Leisure. Evening free to explore Leh market. Overnight at Leh

  • Day 14

    DEPART LEH

    After breakfast, transfer to Leh Airport for departure flight
