Holidays - Chile

Chile, officially the Republic of Chile, is a country in South America occupying a long, narrow strip between the Andes mountains to the east and the Pacific Ocean to the west. It borders Peru to the north, Bolivia to the northeast, Argentina to the east, and the Drake Passage in the far south. Along with Ecuador, it is one of two countries in South America that do not border Brazil. The Spanish spoken in Chile is distinctively accented and quite unlike that of neighbouring South American countries because final syllables and "s" sounds are dropped, and some consonants have a soft pronunciation. Chile is a very long and thin country, so we have all kinds of climates: from the north desert to the arctic south with oceans and mountains spread throughout, that come with their own vegetation and climates. This, in turn, brings a never-ending list of activities including fishing, hiking, golfing, wine tasting, surfing, horse back riding, diving, mountain and volcano climbing, white water rafting and many more. The Torres del Paine, part of the Paine Massif, an Eastern spur of the Andes rising dramatically above the Patagonian steppe, are three granite towers that form the centerpiece of the Torres del Paine National Park in Region XII. In addition to the towers, the park has breathtaking lakes, glaciers, valleys, and forests. Pumas, guanacos, and a wide variety of birds are also found there.
